Literature | Orbital- Samantha Harvey

Hi, It's Andrea! So this week I've decided to write about a book I recently read, which is 'Orbital' by Samantha Harvey.

This book was a refreshing reading experience that follows 6 astro and cosmonauts through a day in space. The book has no particular plot line but instead gives you an insight into their life, detached from planet earth.

Personally, I love books like this because they remind me that everyone lives a different life; and there are so many aspects that make life interesting. These types of books also remind me that life doesn't have a specific plot and we must move one day at a time.

In this story, each character has their own unique story and personality. The 6 characters are all from different parts of the world including: Russia, Japan and the USA. Reading the book, it's so interesting to see each of their relationships to their home and to their life in space. Together they watch in silence, rarely talking to each other as they watch the planet.

Overall, I would rate this book 4.5/5 stars as the writing style and narrative was incredible but it wasn't my favourite book ever. I definitely recommend reading the book if you enjoy literary fiction and space (or even just need something new to read) because the writing is truly beautiful.

Sorry for a short post this week (it will be longer bext time, I promise).
Hope you come back soon, Andrea x
